Plugging Away
While Noel was making stringers, I was crawling around on the deck with a (sharp, this time) chisel and mallet, knocking the tops off of the wooden plugs.
I also tried out the little Japanese saw, but had less patience for that than Noel.
My progress was pretty imperceptible, I would say. I knocked down most of the plugs on this area of the deck, but had a few plugs split on me or break off below the deck surface. Noel showed me his fancy trick for chiseling off the top, then sawing it flush with the little saw, then sanding, but it did not turn out the same for me.posted by ayse on 05/14/12
